And sure, the 4 hour work week did annoy some people. But, no one should be able to say that it wasn’t a gutsy title that attracted attention.
How can you be bold in your writing? What can you do to take a stand in your niche?

So, which one of these types headlines are being used more often in the news? I did a quick Google search on “news, ” and this was the first result for New York Times:

Provocative articles sell newspapers, as well as increases clicks. Try this sneaky strategy and see if it will boost your traffic.
2. Impress other people’s followers
To be able to touch other people’s followers, you need to know one thing first – what does the influencer want from a guest blogger?

You might be aware of the fact that it’s harder to acquire a new customer now than it was 20 years ago. But it’s actually easier now to get a client to buy from you again and again.

They start at the bottom, and then you slowly guide your customer to pay more and more for other products that you have.

There was a reason why a lot of companies started creating their own version of Gangnam style. It was a trending topic that a lot of people liked to watch and share at the time.
Now, it’s important that you act fast when these things happen. Trending topics can quickly become saturated and even boring for the masses.
Therefore, my recommendation is that you always keep a look out for these types of events. They can dramatically boost your traffic, and they occur more often than you might think.
Another example is Pokémon Go. A lot of people got a first mover advantage when they started talking about Pokémon Go early on. Now that market is pretty saturated and I wouldn’t call it a trending topic.

5. Ego-bait influencers in your niche
Most people like to get praised for their accomplishments. Influencers in your niche are no exception to this fact. Now, how can you use this to your advantage?
Well, have you heard of the law of reciprocity? That law states that when someone gives something to someone else – the receiver will feel obligated to give back in some way.
Okay, so with that knowledge, let me ask you this:
What do you want from the influencer if your goal is to increase the number of visitors that your blog gets?
How about a shout out on a social media channel? A retweet or like from an influencer can have more of an impact on the traffic than you think.
Therefore, your goal should be to get a response from the person that you’re targeting. (I know that the word targeting can have a “Machiavellian” connotation to it. But in my defense; you’re reading an article called “Sneaky Ways” not “Friendly Ways.”)
So in conclusion, you’ll want to ego-bait an influencer in your niche in the hope of getting a shout out.
Here are two ways that you can appeal to a person’s ego indirectly:
- Create an article called Top 10 Most Influential People in (your niche).
- Give attention to a project that is relevant to the influencer by writing a blog post about it.
Now, it’s important that you link to their blog or another place where they can be followed. Becuase they might be able to see referral traffic from your site when they check Google Analytics.
You can also reach out to the blogger and “ask” if it’s okay that you’ve added them to your list. Or, just send them a good old tweet and hope for a retweet.
6. Use infographics to create brand awareness
People are passionate about infographics that are useful and fun. And when people love something, they tend to share it.
Start thinking of ways that you add value to an image while simultaneously creating brand awareness. Here is an example of a simple infographic that was created via canva:

The headline is one of the most important pieces of your content. Without a captivating one, who will click through and read your article?

And while the including strategy does work for some people – I think that it is far more efficient to use the excluding strategy. Now, I agree that excluding people in order to get more traffic can seem paradoxical at first.
But consider the fact that a lot of successful marketers say that the money is in the niches. In this case, I think a lot of traffic can be found when you go very specific in your targeting.
The reason for this is because your customer avatar will respond better to your articles. “Hey, he’s talking to me, how can he know all my problems?”
How can you exclude people in your blogging? Well, if you have a blog about weddings, for example, you can write a paragraph on your about page that says:
This blog is not for:
- Single people
- People that are looking for relationship advice
- Couples that wants to get a divorce

So, for example, let’s take the story of Oprah Winfrey. Not everyone can relate to being molested by a cousin and uncle when one is 9 years old. But the FEELING of being taken advantage of is something that a lot of people can resonate with.
Therefore, think of your own journey. Perhaps you were overweight, and now you’re not. Or, you were struggling financially, and now you’re abundant. Or, you were unwillingly single and now you’re happily married. Whatever your story is, what emotions can you spark when you tell it?
The more people that will resonate with your story, the more people will share. And the more people that share – the more traffic you get. So, to put this strategy into sneaky words: play to people’s emotions and fantasies.
10. Be an exceptional detective
This article is all about being as clever as a detective. It’s not about saving the world or doing something grandiose. It’s simply here to give you ideas so you can increase your blog traffic.
If you make more money as a result of it, great! Then perhaps you can use that for philanthropical activities. But for now, let’s dive into the power of keywords, and why you NEED to take advantage of them.

Getting shares on social media will do two things for your blog. Obviously, it will immediately attract more people to your website. But it will also give you a more indirect and long-term benefit; increased authority in the eyes of the search engines like Google.
Perhaps you’ve heard about backlinks? Now, according to Google, you should not focus on link building. But let me just introduce you to the fact that not all backlinks are created equal.
There’s a thing called orphan pages. An orphan page can be a social media profile that has zero followers or activity. A link from such a profile is not very useful for search engine optimization.
So, you’ll want to get the opposite if you want powerful links to your blog so you can rank in Google. One way to accomplish this is to increase the number of followers that you have on your social media profile.
How do you do that? Well, most people will say that you should produce excellent content that people will want to share. I agree, there’s just one problem – you don’t have anyone to share it to in the beginning.
Therefore, use the “follow for follow” method to get a basic foundation of followers. This is another strategy that takes advantage of the law of reciprocity. After that, create your own version of the content within the viral article. When you’re done, send it out to your followers and hopefully it will spread like wildfire.
14. Become a reliable resource by creating a Facebook group around your niche
Why don’t you start your own Facebook group? If you’re blogging a lot about frugal living, you can create a Facebook group about saving tips or budgeting.
You may need to promote the group at first, but once you got your basic foundation of members, you can expect to get natural growth.
Now, when you own a Facebook group with thousands of members, you own an asset. For example, you can drive traffic to your blog by pinning an important post to the top of the timeline.
