We’ve already touched on this topic before in the post the one thing that no one can take away from your online business. But we wanted to elaborate on the reasons to build an email list because of its importance.
We’ve read a lot of post on Facebook where people complain about the fact that they don’t know how to set it everything up. So if you’re one of them—don’t stress, we are here to help you.
On Friday, we’ll publish a complete guide on how to set up a squeeze page and autoresponder. So think of this blog post as a “motivator “ to take action and build an email list.
1. By Building an Email List, it Enables You To Have Direct 1-on-1 Conversations
Even though the open rate of emails has decreased the last couple of years—it’s still one of the most powerful ways to communicate with your followers. Imagine Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and other social media platforms.
On social media—numerous distractions can quickly pull people’s attention away. Social media often gives you a manic and ADD-like behavior.
You do all these different things in a matter of seconds.
Yes, you could also scroll on your email to find different emails to pick from. But, consider the fact that the open rate usually is between 20-45%. That’s a lot higher than social media clicks on images, links, etc.
But there is one more thing that is more important than just the open rate. Once this 20-45% of people have click on YOUR email, what’s there?
If you’re good at capturing their attention, it’s very likely that they’ll read what you have to say. You got their full
And that’s what it’s all about right? You need to get attention to

2. An Email List Enables You To Build A Long-Term Relationship With Your Readers
Around 75% of your blog visitors will never return. That’s sad data.
You can increase your tribe by building an opt-in—because a lot of visitors simply forget about your website. They may want to return, but they don’t remember your brand name.
People like to be told what to do. It’s your job as a website owner to tell the visitors what you want them to do. That’s why we have a very clear header image. We want our visitors to read our book.
We want them to be on our email list because we want to offer more value and build a relationship. Having an opt-in and an email list enables us to do all this.
You can also link to your opt-in in your content, similar to this:
3. You Can Automate an Email Follow-up Sequence With A Mass Email Service
If you build an email list with a mass email service like AWeber (which is what we use), you can automate your emails. You could write up 20 emails that will be sent to a new subscriber in a specific order. So for example:
Email 1 (Sends out directly once they’ve opted in.) Your Free Ebook
Email 2 (Sends out two days after the previous email) How I Make $1000/Month Selling on Ebay
Email 3 (Send out one day after the previous email) My Top 10 Tips for Frugal Living
Email 4 (Sends out three days after the previous email) This Is Just An Example of A Headline For an Email
By automating your emails, you can make sales without actively having to press send. You may have written an email one year ago that is still making you money on autopilot.
Now, of course, you can send out direct emails to your list as well if you use a mass email service like AWeber. That way you can reach all your subscribers with a press of a button—and most people read their emails daily too which is great.
